    Somali mum is ungrateful

I found your piece on the Somali mother-of-six waiting 13 years for accomodation on Barnet's housing waiting list annoying, to say the least.

This woman does nothing but complain. There is not a single word of gratitude for the taxpayers who have kept a roof over her head, food on her table, and clothes on her back. Not a word of thanks for the health care, the education, the generous benefits, all paid for out of public money.

She seems to think this country owes her a living. She seems not to understand that all these services are not pulled out of thin air but paid for by the hard work of others.

Has she ever tried to help herself in any way? Could she not at least have learned English in all the years waiting for accommodation? Maybe if she had, she could have got a job and contributed something towards her upkeep and that of her large family.

What is special about a Somali mum? is it because she has contributed with six brilliant children that will help this country inside or outside? has Mr. Smith given birth to one child? or is he just a racist trying to put people in the wrong direction?.
I am a BRITISH Somali, graduated in this country with very good achievements, took other necessary trainings to specialize, and belief me after 6 years of searching a suitable job found nothing!!!!! why? just because I am Somali – I suppose ( but I don’t give up), if you think learning English will guarantee a job then that is an outdate.

On the other hand how many British (black and white) are illiterate? how many of them have never worked? what is special about some Somali women, who devoted their time bringing up tomorrow’s intellects for this country? I know some of them are more knowledgeable than most of those who put their noises to them.

Mind your business and advise your local government to deploy strategic arrangements to help those Mums not only Somalis.

Ahmed, my friend, you are missing the point. Whether she is a good mum is not in question. I'm sure she is far better than some English counterparts, BUT she has contributed nothing whilst bringing up six children. Most working families can't afford six children. As Mr Smith quite rightly points out things have to be paid for and does she appear to be thankful for the opportunities afforded her by way of health, education, etc.

Regarding your job situation, I sympathise, but it's not to do with being a Somalian. Believe me, there is a lack of openings for graduates of whatever backgrounds. Don't make yours a race issue. A degree isn't the be all and end all it used to be. Getting any kind of job isn't easy, there's many applicants, but you have to lower your sights and take a job to get yourself something for your CV and prove yourself first. Everyone finds it hard to get their first job. Don't agree with this woman because she's Somalian, either agree with her or disagree with her because she's a fellow human being but of the female gender, ie, herself as a person, race excluded.

It is of Mr Smith's business, same as it is yours and mine.

She's a mum, she has 6 kids. They need a proper home. 13 years is far too long. It is not a question of ungratefulness, it's about basic human decency and children having a right to a proper home. Her country of origin is irrelevant as is her contribution to society.

There are many reasons why people may not be able to contribute to society, disability, ill health, personal circumstances. A rich country such as the Uk could house everyone with political will.

She's a mum, she has 6 kids. Mother should be there for her child
So take care of her if not send to The Netherlands so that we can give her whatever she wants because she is bringing the further of your country
