Hannah Waddingham was applauded for telling a photographer “don’t be a d***” at the Olivier Awards which she was hosting.

This was after she told off a photographer who appeared to ask her to “show your leg”.

The Ted Lasso star walked the red carpet of the awards show held at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Sunday (April 14) to pose for photographs while wearing a light purple sequined gown.

While standing on a set of steps on the carpet, she could be heard calling out a photographer in the crowd that stood waiting.

In a video posted on X, formerly Twitter, by @odeiotedlasso, the photographer’s words are inaudible but Waddingham can be heard replying: “Oh my God, you would never say that to a man.

“Don’t be a d***, otherwise I’ll move off.

“Just don’t say, ‘show your leg’, no.”

As Waddingham left the red carpet, onlookers could be heard cheering and applauding as she made her way towards the Royal Albert Hall.

Waddingham continued to discuss the incident as she left, before she could be heard saying: “Have some manners.”

OK! Magazine also shared the clip to its official Instagram account with the caption: “Hannah Waddingham calls out and fumes at photographer’s sexist comment at the Olivier Awards”.

The British singer and actress hosted the awards ceremony in 2023 and she returned this year, opening the show with a musical performance of Anything Goes.

Waddingham is best known for her role in the Apple TV+ comedy series, Ted Lasso, where she played Richmond FC owner Rebecca Welton.

TV fans might also recognise the London-born star from other series as she has also appeared in Game of Thrones and Sex Education.

She was hailed as a national treasure when she co-hosted last year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool.
