A girl's rugby team have proved they’re every bit as tough as men when it comes tackling, rucking and mauling.

The girls in Totteridge Academy’s Year 7 competed in a head-to-head tournament at Richmond Rugby Club with 400 other youngsters from schools all over the country last month.

Then they headed down the road to Twickenham, home of England Rugby, for a girls’ rugby event to show their sporting skills in a competitive but friendly environment on the famous turf.

It was all part of Rugby Football Union’s ‘Love Rugby’ campaign to get girls into the game, where they also met England player Amber Reed.

The Totteridge Year 7s met other girls who are interested in rugger, like them, and raising the profile of the women’s game in their schools.

The tournament was also part of the ‘Paris 2024’ programme by United Learning schools group, which Totteridge Academy belongs to, in the run-up to the summer Olympics in France.
