Cricklewood doesn't have too much in common with the lost city of Angkor Wat in Cambodia.

Angkor Wat is a collection of vast, impressive temples built between the eighth and 13th centuries. Cricklewood, on the other hand, can lay claim to being the birthplace of Smith's Crisps.

In AD514, Angkor Wat celebrated the reign of King Rudravarman. In 2005, Cricklewood was the home of Mayor of London Ken Livingstone.

Angkor Wat is known as a lost city. Cricklewood is where you might end up if you get lost on the night bus.

However, Cricklewood does have one thing over our Cambodian chums it's going to be bigger. Well, at least bigger than the entire Khmer temple complex, which is, to use the technical term, ginormous.

The Cricklewood redevelopment will see the area balloon in size over the next two decades, with more than 5,500 new homes as part of the £2.3 billion plans, making the Khmer temple complex a mere joke by comparison. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Rudravarman.
