Bees sink Tractor Boys
Barnet 2 Ipswich Town 1 . . .
Barnet came from behind to put Saturday's mauling by Arsenal well and truly behind them.
First-half goals from strikers Giuliano Grazioli and Liam Hatch cancelled out an early Shefki Kuqi effort and sent a sparse crowd home content.
Though Ipswich did not field many regulars, this was still an impressive Barnet display and, once they had got their noses in front, the Bees never looked like losing.
It had looked bleak for Paul Fairclough's men when Kuqi stole in at the far post to volley past Shane Gore for the opener on 12 minutes.
An Ismail Yakubu clearance almost led to a bizarre second minutes later when the ball hit Kuqi and looped over Gore before striking the post.
But Barnet stunned the Tractor Boys with an equaliser on 19 minutes, Grazioli turning his man inside the box and coolly slotting past Lewis Price from close range.
From that moment the game turned in Barnet's favour. Their shaky start became a distant memory and the Bees began to dictate the match.
Ben Strevens freed Grazioli down the right and he forced Price to push away his shot from just inside the area.
The winner came seven minutes from the break. Richard Graham freed Hatch down the right and the striker cut inside before drilling the ball past Price from close in.
Barnet continued to create the better chances and Strevens should have done better when Chris Hogg headed a Grazioli cross into his path on 55 minutes, the transfer-listed Bee blazing over.
Grazioli then forced Price to tip over a stinging drive and Graham dragged a shot just wide after a Grazioli interception put him free.
Ipswich created few chances, but sub keeper Ricky Millard did well to block a Stuart Boardley effort midway through the half.
Simon King had the final effort at the other end, a speculative 30-yard drive that sailed just over the bar.
Barnet (4-4-2): Gore (Millard 45); Hendon, Plummer (Maddix 45), Yakubu, King; Graham, Lopez (Bailey 57), Strevens (Clist 66), Lee; Grazioli (Roache 78), Hatch.
Attendance: 641.
* Former Exeter City midfielder Dwane Lee made his debut for the Bees. Lee is currently on trial at Underhill.
