Three men are being sought in connection with a Hampstead Garden Suburb burglary which saw residents held to ransom in their kitchen.
At around 8.40pm on Saturday (January 12) it is believed that at least four men gained entry to a house in The Bishops Avenue through a first floor window.
After forcing the six residents to lie on the kitchen floor, the men stole a safe and fled the scene in a stolen Mercedes that was parked in the driveway.
A 42-year-old man who had been driving the Mercedes was arrested after a short police pursuit. He has been charged with burglary and will be remanded in custody until February 25.
Police are still looking for at least three suspects. They are all described as around 30 years old and about 5ft 10in tall. Suspect one has been described as a black male wearing a grey zipped jumper, dark trousers and a blue beanie hat. Suspect two has also been described as a black male, wearing a dark top and dark coloured trousers. Suspect three was a white male.
All the property from the burglary has been recovered.
It is believed that another vehicle may have been involved. Anyone who saw a vehicle or anyone acting suspiciously in The Bishops Avenue at around 8.30pm are asked to contact police on 0208 200 1212, quoting crime ref 2400854/08, or to phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
